I don't know what the hell this is, but I knew it was going to be weird, and it damn sure is. It's part video game sounding music, part 80's synth pop/rock, part goofy all over the place experimentalism, a little bit of hip-hop, and there's probably some free jazz and a little metal in there too. What the hell do I know? Two guys take care of business here, and that includes guitar, bass, keyboards, drum programming, vocals, and god only knows what else. But I'm pretty sure there's probably a kitchen sink in there somewhere, if you know what I mean. Needless to say this is not the kind of thing I could listen to on a regular basis, and in all honesty it's not really something I could view as much more than a novelty. I love the 80's pop sounding work on the synths, I will say that. They've got that shit down. And there are actually some almost catchy moments here, but the vocals are just too strained to pull it off. Most of the time it sounds more like they're talking in key than singing, and the semi-shouted stuff isn't really doing anything for me. It's pretty well done, though. I mean, the recording isn't that bad (though the distorted guitars are a little ragged)... and they do have some obvious talents as far as writing melodies and structuring songs, etc. I just wish things were a bit more coherent or somehow professional, if that's possible? Because I'd be lying if I said the layout looked like anything other than... well, let's go with "crap". What can I say? Not only are the color xeroxes not doing it for me, but neither are the bland fonts, and certainly not the horribly pixilated video game screenshots or the pasted in image of a strange woman gladiator (or whatever the hell she is). I realize that this can't be all that serious, hell there is a song called "De-Cock Me, Master!", but nonetheless... this thing looks pretty weak. I don't know... you basically get an hour's worth of madcapped lunacy that sounds like the B-52's copulating with Flock of Seagulls, who are in turn being serenaded by The Kids of Widney High, while a pimply high school version of Mike Patton masturbates in the corner and throws in the occasional vocal line... and Yello is probably there playing "Oh Yeah" the whole time. They have some potential. I can't deny that. I have to say that selling this thing for $10 plus shipping is a crime, though. I mean, come on... it's a loony CD-R packaged in shoddy color xeroxes, guys. But I'll tell you this: If these guys nutjobs would go full-blown 80's synth pop they'd be my new favorite band, because they could nail it with better vocals and no nonsense. Seriously.
