Here's a brief CD EP of chugging metalcore from New Jersey. It's sort of straightforward for the most part. There are a lot of midpaced mosh breaks along with a little bit of melody/dissonance, and the vocals are generally screamed with a few hints at almost singing, but not completely. I'm just not really understanding why there are four short songs (all less than three minutes) that all sound pretty much the same here. I mean, it goes by really fast, so it's not boring per se, but nothing jumps out at all either. I like the simple rhythmic nature of the songs, but this material needs something more. The recording is good, but it needs some tweaking. The vocals are definitely too dominant in the mix, and that's my chief complaint. Other than that, more bass and thicker guitars would help, as would less rigidity to the drums. The drums aren't really that bad, they just need some more warmth and density because everything comes off somewhat thin. I do really like the layout, aside from the band photo few colors are used, mostly black and white with red and a dirty sort of cream color. But the typefaces and textures are all really consistent and it actually looks great. There are some old illustrations of firearms and stuff, which seems to be getting more common these days, but it still looks good. I'm not that into the lyrics though, I just can't really get into the fragmented delivery or the relatively typical content. "Your fame's quickly disappearing. All you had was 15 minutes. The way this goes is so tragic. Can't find a way to be forgiving. There is no way. I must have revenge on you for the disgrace of me." I don't know. Not bad, but this band doesn't really stand out from the pack at all. Visually this release definitely sticks out, but they need to work on doing something more interesting or powerful from a musical standpoint.
