This is a collection of most of the songs from the old "Tutti Pazzi" LP's (volumes 1 and 2) that showcased numerous tracks from hardcore/punk bands in the former Yugoslavia. I think all of these songs were recorded between 1983 and 1986. Stres Da is up first with 13 totally raw tracks of hardcore/punk with fast vocal patterns, blasting drums, etc. The recording is annoying and favors vocals overall, followed by drums and then bass/guitars, but they do have a few good songs mixed in here. Overall it's too frantic and sort of annoying for me to get into, though. Distress offers four tracks with tons of distorted bass and a slightly heavier sort of rhythm, though a few of the songs do have some quirky and dissonant areas. The recording is a little better as far as the drums go, but it's still too dated for these ears. Odpadki Civilizacije cranks out five tracks of equally raw hardcore/punk (leaning more towards the hardcore) with some great pissed off vocal yells and a more tangible song structure that I find enjoyable. The guitar tone is fucking weird as hell and sometimes sounds out of tune, but I like this band. Patareni's six songs are in their earlier style (i.e. not grindy) and rip through a few crazy leads and some slower or more spastic areas as well. The vocals are really cool, but too loud, so the mix can be irritating. U.B.R. displays seven tracks and maintain their status as one of the best hardcore/punk bands I've heard from this area thanks to Falsanja Kol'Ko's. The recording is really dirty and hard to make out at times, but they still stand out. Kategorija has one of the more balanced recordings, but sadly the guitars are out of tune and a lot of their songwriting is way too sloppy. The bassist is great but the guitar playing is too loose and weak. Seven more from Giuseppe Carabino end this compilation, and these are the weirdest tracks herein. I can't even begin to describe them. Most of the vocals are fast and pissed, but the music is really sort of boppy and experimental in a weird way. It's very eccentric and creative, but I don't like the songs at all. Sorry! The packaging looks sort of cool and I like the old school cut and paste sort of punk rock aesthetic, but it's sort of confusing. There are a ton of different tracklist arrangements inside, as well as the covers for volumes 1 and 2 of this compilation series, and tiny band photos. But no real information other than some notes about tracks being remastered and some limited pressing numbers regarding the original vinyl. I don't know, Odpadki Civilizacije is cool, and Distress and U.B.R. do a decent job, but as a whole this isn't that enjoyable. I love hearing obscure bands from other countries, but beyond that there's not much to get excited about here.
