This is a way short demo that's a bit premature if you ask me. These guys play sarcastic, bitter hardcore/punk with a little bit of a crossover vibe, but the recording sucks. One minute it's raw and really thin/quiet, then the next song is louder with overloaded vocal levels and thick bass, etc. The drums are really quiet, the vocals are too far out front, the guitars sound really weak and lack any power or heaviness at all, the performance is sloppy... need I go on? As far as the style, I don't know what I'd compare it to. The vocals are just gruff yells, and some of the music is sort of like early NYHC hardcore ala Agnostic Front mixed with the weaker aspects of D.R.I.'s later crossover period with some heavy old school hardcore thrown in... but it just sounds off. I don't know, it has sort of a weird punk feel in some odd way too, there's just something wrong with the way they're delivering the songs that doesn't fit. They need a better recording and a tighter performance. Heavier and cleaner. That could do the trick. It still wouldn't be earth shattering, but it could be far stronger. The packaging is sort of shoddy. The CD-R comes in a gray xeroxed sleeve with a rough high contrast image of a woman with an axe in hear head on the front and a small flap with the band name on the back (in pixilated text). The disc itself has the band name and the demo title sloppily handwritten on the face, and the insert has the lyrics printed in straight text on cream-colored paper. I can't gauge what the lyrics are specifically about, but on the surface they're just pissed off and deal largely with hatred: "Clap it up motherfuckers because this song's about you, And I wish I could say that I don't care what you do, But you're so fucking fake that it makes me sick, No matter what they say you'll agree with it..." Ehhh, what can you do? In my opinion this demo was a rushed effort. They should have waited until they were tighter and could have done more in the studio before they released anything. I don't see the point in a five-minute demo anyway unless it's a damn good demo... which this is not.
