This is a strange one. The CD-R is housed in a slim jewel case with a color xeroxed cover on fluorescent yellow/green paper. The cover art displays "Phantom of the Opera" imagery, and inside is some text with script references to the play or something. All of the tracks appear to be untitled, and make up around 20 minutes of harsh noise experimentation. Things are fairly standard in a way, with lots of rough distortion and thick crunches, but there are some nice little characteristics that keep things from coming off as straight up, sandblasting noise. From rhythmic throbs of distortion to eerie undercurrents of feedback or even hints of subtle musical melodies (under windy distortion, of course), there's a decent amount of movement happening to keep things interesting, so not every song sounds the same at all, despite possessing a consistent overall aesthetic. There are definitely some tracks that come off as more bludgeoningly caustic and fierce through and through (namely the longer two tracks at the end), but I still feel that the bulk of this work is above average for harsh noise, even if I'm not blown away. It doesn't get too boring either. 20 minutes is a very tasteful total running time for this particular outing, giving you just enough to get a taste of what the project has to offer without beating you over the head for an hour or anything. I'm not sure what else to say about his one since there's not much to go on. Sans what I've already mentioned the only information included is an email address, and I believe this is the debut release for Skin Suit Highway, so I guess I'll wait and see what's to come.
