Here's more rugged Swedish grindcore from Sounds of Betrayal compliments of this trio with a dual vocal attack of raging screams (midrange and high-pitched), plenty of blistering speed, and some brief slower chord progressions such as those in tracks like "Sort Them Out" and "Ashes" that really thicken things up and add a good sense of variety. There's a slight dose of dissonance on occasion as well, which is also nice. "Med Livet Som Insats", for instance, has some slight melody lurking in its chord progressions, and a few very brief little lead lines as well, but as one of the longer and more diverse tracks it definitely stands out... even closing out with a really slow passage. The production needs more bass for sure, but other than that it's not bad. I'm not bothered by the rawness. The drums are crisp and sound good, the vocals are sort of loud but more low-end would help to balance that out, and the same goes for the slightly thin guitar tone... I say just crank the bass and see what happens (but be sure to add more density to the bass first). It's just too thin to do any real damage overall, but it's still clear that the songs rip. The layout is simple but pretty cool, using only abstract high contrast black and white imagery of faces and bodies with a red band logo and lots of blank white/black space. A couple of the tracks have lyrics in Swedish, so I'm not sure what's going on there, but the other songs tend to deal with personal issues or somewhat political issues from a largely personal view (i.e. there's no preaching or anything). "I set myself on this journey into my mind an abyss down to hell darkness darker than night a fist of memories coming back beaten by secrets no one knew fear and anger fighting for outlet but never let out the dark scares me." Not bad at all. Putrid Filth Conspiracy and all associated offshoot labels are really a consistent bunch over there...
