It's fairly unusual for an experimental project to release what could otherwise be (and appears to be) a full-length CD-R with only one, relatively brief track on it. But that is the case with this particular effort: One six-minute track of generally calm, flowing sounds, with a few shifts and progressions along the way. It begins with layers of minimal feedback that spiral around under some delay to create a strange sense of harmony on occasion. Towards the middle it starts to get into some fluttery distortion, but nothing too aggressive, and shortly thereafter fades to more of an ambient throb with some percussion and crackling sounds focused in the right channel. Rather quickly everything bounces back into the middle and gets deeper and perhaps more sinister... and there might be some faint whispering involved? Truth be told this is one of those rare occasions where I wish the track was longer, as this is a nice effort that feels as though it needs to be developed further. The CD-R comes in a thick ass oversized booklet that's stitched shut along the spine and opens in sort of an accordion like manner, with tones of abstract black and white textures and minimal text. The front cover is hand-numbered out of 18 copies on a sleeve that holds the actual disc. Very unusual. I like this, it's so odd to me that the packaging would be so thick and oversized for just one short song, but this track makes me curious to hear more from RT.
