Hmmm, I had no idea what to expect from this one, so fittingly enough I suppose it's experimental sort of electronic rock music that has a little bit of an 80's new wave type of feel going on, but it's not as over the top or poppy or anything. "Seven Days in Space" is drenched in ethereal synths, throbbing bass, and softly sung vocals over programmed drums. "Highlights" is similar but a bit more "upbeat" to some degree, at least in its tempo and strange sense of energy, though it's still somewhat dark. It's also more electronic, though quick samples of acoustic guitar seep in for brief appearances. "Big White" is quieter and far more repetitive, this time using distant vocals under heavy effects and a strange guitar part that takes precedence over pulsating beats. "The End of the Soundfreeze" closes the EP with a similar approach that incorporates some piano and sparse singing that's barely audible. There are some samples of female singing as well, which sound excellent. Very nice. The recording is fine. Everything is smooth and clear with a full mix that often benefits the low-end tones and keeps the vocals deep within the core of the music. At times I'd rather hear more of the subtle details than the beats, but it works out fine in the end. The CD-R comes in a thick sleeve of dark gray paper with blue, black, and pink printing on it - showing simple illustrations and text, and that's about it. There's no insert, and all that's on the sleeve really are the song titles and a web address. I think I read somewhere that this is already out of print, so I assume it was a limited edition affair. I'd be interested in hearing more from this band. This is curious work, perhaps more so because there's absolutely no information about the band included within!? This is a neat release.
