First off, I think it's very tasteful that this cassette runs a mere 10 minutes, because it's incredibly rare to see an experimental artist release a tape of less than 20 or 30 minutes (at the very least), and it really keeps things short but sweet. Side A offers up "Automatic Fuck", which is fairly typical harsh noise with a generally thin and rugged sort of sound. There's definitely a lot of low-end at times, and the calm pulsating throb that takes precedence shortly after the track begins is great, but the more aggressive distortion is your typical blitz of cascading feedback and crispy attack. There's not much layering going on, and the piece is generally not that interesting. I definitely like the distant vocals that break in along with some of the more atmospheric textures (and it's got a very strong ending as well), it's just the overt harsh aspects that are generic. However, Side B is a far more creative track - the best I've heard from the project to date. "Your Fragile Exterior" begins with what I would tag as a dark ambient sort of ringing with some smoother undercurrents, quickly introducing some piercing feedback that still retains a nice mood. It's more rhythmic and percussive, and it feels more thought out and creative, using a consistent flow and an intentional sort of arrangement. A great blend of dark ambient with some abrasive textures that never comes off as typical. Very nice. The packaging leaves quite a lot to be desired as the cassette comes with nothing but a minimal insert printing a bland font on marbled gray paper, which isn't anything to look at, so I would suggest something perhaps more suited to the content of the tracks in the future. "Your Fragile Exterior" is an excellent piece, however, so I'll give this one credit where due.
