Here's some aggressive hardcore/punk with what I would call a little bit of a crust vibe out of Minneapolis. Most of the writing is based around fast chord progressions with basic drumbeats and solid basslines alongside gruff vocal screams, and of course there's a fair amount of repetition and the occasional noisy solo. This is really pretty good, though. It's not particularly original, but something about the songs is a bit more interesting or at least memorable than a lot of what's out there I suppose. I don't know, it works for me. They keep things short and simple, and I like that. "Drowning in Shit" is a little bit slower and darker than the other tracks at the start, definitely setting itself apart, but there's plenty of speed as well, so the slight variety makes it the perfect closer. I actually like the production. It's raw, but the mix is strong and everything works out nicely. The bass holds down the low-end, the drums sound fine, the vocals and guitars are appropriately raw without taking away from the attack, etc. The layout is straightforward, all in black and white with a band photo on the back, images of missiles elsewhere, and simple text presented on the inner sleeve. The lyrics are brief and personal, with a little bit of a socio-political edge as far as expressing negative views on the state of the world. "Down we all fall deeper and deeper down, This shit that surrounds us all, It grips us tighter every day... We struggle to breathe, Breathe, Brutalized... we are all victims of a brutal lie, Victimized... blinded force fed, Victimized... we've been victimized, Just victims of genocide." This is definitely a strong 7". I'd be into hearing more...
