Here's a cool discography CD from this early Swedish punk band that formed in the late-70's. Their style is pretty straightforward punk rock with some rock 'n' roll, and the vocals are just sort of sung without being very melodic. Included is the band's first 7" recorded in 1979 (800 pressed), the "Flumpungar" 7" recorded in 1981, live tracks recorded in Moraparken in 1979, and the band's final EP from 1982 (1,000 pressed). Then there are four songs by a band called Kanon that were recorded in 1999, and I assume that this was a band that featured P-Nissarna members (the liner notes are in Swedish, so I can't be sure what the exact details are). "Benzin" has a lot of wild basslines and a weird mix of upbeat tempos and dissonant chords that I really like a lot, while "Vi Fixar det Sj?lva" is faster and more rhythmic. A lot of the songs from the band's last 7" are catchier and sound a little different vocally, especially "V?rldskrig III". The four Kanon tracks are actually not too terribly far removed from P-Nissarna in some ways. The songs are longer and in more of an obscure rock/metal vein, but the way they're performed still favors the bass and keeps things stripped down and open so there's a lot of breathing room. "Du Trollar Med Mig" is heavier and has a progressive/math rock sort of twist to some of the more involved riffing, whereas "Tittar Inte Bak?t" has some clean chords in there. At the end of the disc there are two unlisted jam types of tracks, one with a folk-ish feel, and the other with a smoother sort of laidback and somber tone that I really like. I don't have a problem with the recordings at all. They sound excellent for their age and have been remastered superbly in my opinion. I love the bassist as well, because not only is he talented but his parts play an enormous role in driving the tracks. And unlike most releases of this nature the live songs sound fucking awesome! They're just as clear as the studio tracks, and even better is the fact that none of the live songs were released on their records, so there are no duplicate tracks on the CD at all! The layout is done in bright colors (mostly pink) and has a nasty photo on the cover of a penis made out like a "face", with glasses, a lit cigarette, etc. Inside are tons of band photos, the original record covers, lyrics (all in Swedish), and some liner notes. The photos are often sort of pixilated and rough for some reason, and all of the text is in Swedish so I'm not really sure what most of it says. This is a great collection and a worthy document of this band's history. I wish I could read the liner notes to learn more about the band, but the musical portion of the disc has been handled in probably the best manner possible. Very cool.
