I know absolutely nothing about this band because the CD comes with absolutely no information whatsoever. Not so much as a contact address or anything. That being said, the band offers up five quick tracks of hardcore that ranges from a moshy NYHC style to the faster crossover thrash stylings of "Broken Never Hopeless". Some of the songs flirt with an old school approach, but it's always just a touch heavier than that style, and the speedier picking patterns always bring in more of a thrash metal sort of sound. "Everything I Used to Be" is probably the most traditional sounding of the tracks, followed closely by "No Place to Call Home", but both mess with the rhythms just enough to stay away from any generic youth crew arrangements. Only one of the songs hits two minutes, so they keep things short but sweet with no spare time for fucking around. The recording's not bad for what I assume is a demo, but it needs a little work to really kick as much ass as these songs should. I like that the bass isn't masked by the guitars, and the drums are aptly crisp, but the guitars ought to be a touch heavier for as crunchy as the music is, and the vocals need a little more brightness to let the character of the yelling come through. It's definitely effective as is, but with a little extra oomph this thing would totally kill. The disc comes in a slim cardboard slipcase with basically no real artwork. The logo appears on the cover against a white background, and the song titles are on the back with the label's logo and that's it. I can't believe there's not even any contact information on the damn thing!? So, the packaging is kind of weak, but the songs rock, so fuck it. I'm looking forward to hearing more from this band. I love this style when it's done right, and these kids do it right. It's not original, but there are enough influences in the mix to keep this stuff from sounding stale, so sign me up.
