Ahhh, another experimental noise release with the ever popular blood smeared on the cover (how "fitting" based on the title of the release). I hate that shit. Hey, it looks interesting, don't get me wrong, and in many ways it's effective on a psychological level, because it freaks me out, but I hate that shit. Nasty. This one comes in a slim hand-painted jewel case in a blood smeared plastic bag with dried blood smeared on a loose xerox insert and a bloody toenail in the case. Disgusting. The artwork is collaged and looks pretty raw, there's some contact information inside and the insert is hand-numbered out of 200, but I don't think there are any song titles. I'm not gonna lie, I only briefly glanced inside before I tossed the package because I don't want to put my hands all over a CD insert that has blood smeared all over it, you know what I mean? Ugh. Anyway, there are three lengthy tracks ranging from 14+ minutes to about 32 minutes, based largely around blistering harsh noise without a great deal of layering, and some maniacal vocal shouts that's all a little bit crazier and less rhythmically structured than the norm. It's definitely got that power electronics thing happening vocally, but the sounds and the tracks as wholes are dominated by more of a harsh noise assault. There's often a throbbing sort of low-end pulse to the compositions, and I think that helps a lot. The only thing I'm not into is that sometimes there are weird sort of obscured electronic beats under distortion in the distance, but they really feel out of place against the crisp and chaotic tinges of feedback soaked distortion and churning midrange. The first track even closes on an oddly musical note with such a rhythm in place. At times the vocals do become slightly more typical in barked delivery, though on the other hand there are several instances of totally insane cackles as well. The tracks don't necessarily stagnate considering their lengths. Of course in theory there are a lot of similarities, but subtle shifts and changes definitely take place. There's a constant presence of stereo panning and fairly straightforward midrange distortion, though at times it gets a bit more atmospheric or minimal, rarely locking up in a bit of a loop, etc. It's good that the density is broken up by more spacious and unusual passages that aren't typical or anything that I would call ambient at all. The bottom line is that it's fucking loud. Extremely fucking loud. Even at minimal volume in headphones certain areas can be very grating on the ears. I like some of it, some of it I'm not into, etc. Overall I definitely feel that there's more promise than there are weak points, but next time I can do without the bloody packaging and shit. God damn, there's just no need for that mess... it's not cool. No thanks.
