What's the deal with Japanese bands and these super short two-song demos? These guys play emo/screamo with generally nice, flowing music that uses only light distortion. The problem is that the vocals are fucking horrible blown out screams that are totally overpowering and way too over the top for this style of music. The music is almost poppy in an angular sort of indie way, with roaming basslines, layered chord progressions, a few jagged rhythms, softer clean breaks, a pretty constant sense of melody, and even some nice drum work in "Milkstand". But man, those vocals are so bad... I can't stand it. The recording's alright. It's on the raw side, pretty dry, but I'd be fine with it were the vocals not mixed way out front as well. That's a double whammy. The bass tone is really good, and the drums sound quite strong too, so were the vocals mixed back against the instruments they'd just need to work out the kinks in the distorted guitar tone, because the plain clean sounds work alright for me. The CD-R comes in a color xeroxed sleeve with a xeroxed insert inside for the lyrics (which are in Japanese). All artwork and text is fairly minimal, but it does look decent for what it is. I don't know what else to say. The demo's not even 10 minutes long. In my opinion they need to get a new vocalist right away, because they could be a good band, but as soon as the vocals kick in this demo takes a major nosedive.
