Okay, I'll play the asshole... because sending me this CD was a mistake. I have no idea who sent this to me, or whether or not they honestly thought I would enjoy it, but there's nothing about this music that is at all appealing to me aside from the bass tone. But I'll get to that later. Now, as for what the fuck these guys sound like (it's a duo of drums, bass, and vocals)? I have no idea. They're unique. I'll give 'em that. It's quirky and has a weird sort of 80's thing going on, maybe like the B-52's or the Talking Heads with a totally stripped down and raw sound that has a noisy and abrasive edge to it, combined with a frantic sense of erratic arrangements and obscure indie influences or something. I don't know. Whatever it is, it does indeed suck. The recording isn't that bad for what it is. The bass sounds killer, the drums are fine, and the mix is alright. But I absolutely cannot tolerate the vocals. The guy's like talking in key or something, and his vocals are too separated from the music, not to mention just totally lacking any feeling or effort whatsoever. Awful. As far as the packaging, the booklet is covered with interesting illustrations that, while a little too "unfinished" looking, are really pretty cool, and I like the brightly colored photographs used elsewhere, even if they're not that much of a match for the illustrative look. Lyrically things are a quirky approach to sort of making a statement: "What's the scoop there cookie? Working away in the service industry, Right back where you'd never be, Being a slave to the industry..." They've got something to say, that's the only thing they have going for them right now, aside from some competent abilities on their instruments and such. But these songs are total crap. I have no earthly idea why a band like this would even exist unless they just want to annoy people or attract droves of artsy "punk" fucking hippies to fall on their every idiosyncratic note. Ugh. This really makes me cringe. It'll take me awhile to recover from this. Make it stop, please...
