Perhaps there's a bit of a pattern developing here, what with the (somewhat) newly christened LHD incarnation of Lefthandeddecision dropping quick ass EP's that hit you with an onslaught of harsh noise like a ton of bricks before packing up and heading home less than 20 minutes later? Not unlike the "Curtains" EP on PACrec, that's the story here: Three untitled tracks, 17 minutes of material, blaring distorted noise. The end. That does say it all, really. But to be more specific, expect an all out war of chaotic noise: Rumbling low-end, constant movement, fits of piercing feedback breaking through to the foreground on occasion, a constant headfuck of stereo panning that's not so over the top that you'll vomit but definitely keeps you a little off balance, a couple of briefly more tangible moments where the layering is stripped down a touch, etc. The sound has a rawness to it but isn't quite what I would call lo-fi, which is cool, because it's getting there, but it's not forcing anything, so it's appropriately rugged for what it offers but still retains enough of an edge to do some added damage. The disc is housed in a matte black and white slipcase with almost no text, just one dismal image of a smoggy cityscape. Simple yet effective, and I actually find the packaging to be quite attractive in its minimalism. Admittedly there's not a terribly large amount of variety happening here, so barring the fact that the second track tops nine minutes to the other two's hair under four, the material's pretty interchangeable. Yeah, the third track opens and bases itself around a pretty distinctive stutter, and the second piece can get pretty fierce towards the latter chunk of its time, but as far as dynamics go there's not a great deal of breathing room or letting up on this one - and most of such traits that are there do find a home in that third track. But hey, it's a tastefully quick shot of noise and LHD has always had a knack for delivering the goods. I like it.
