Fuck yeah! Blazing hardcore from this all-female band out of S?o Paulo, Brazil. Little hints of metal, little hints of melody, but overall lots of speed and scathing vocal shouts, coming off as sort of a mix of the straightforward heavy hardcore of the 90's and the old school styled hardcore of the late-80's with an aggressive crossover thrash edge or something. Very cool. The writing is really energetic in my opinion, I like the ferocity of the vocals, I like the speed and the balance of tasteful breakdowns (check out "Am?rica Latina")... all in all these are just great songs. "Lado Teen Idles Porno" is probably the heaviest track, and easily one of my favorites, but there are no weak songs here, they keep things fairly short and simple and the 7" is highly effective as a result. The performance could use a slight bit of tightening up, but that's about it, and they're not really sloppy or anything, there are just a few timing falters and such. They've used a really raw recording. The drums are really resonant and jump out, the vocals are the most clear, the guitars and bass form a seamless wall of sound, and there's a lot of distortion in a thick mix. It could be better of course, but it definitely works. The 7" comes on clear vinyl in a thick sleeve printed in metallic silver ink on matte black stock and the artwork (the photos anyway) appears to be the band members at various locations in a city. An enormous double-sided xeroxed insert is inside with all of the lyrics and tons of additional text, and lots of little illustrations that go along with what I assume the content of the tracks deals with. Sadly everything is in Portuguese so I can't read it, but I get the general idea. Obviously from song titles like "Sociedade Masculina" and "Homofobia" one can deduce that sexism and homophobia are attacked, but I'm assuming based on some of the illustrations present that racism, American imperialism, and the standards of beauty forced upon women might be other topics dealt with. There really is a ton of text here, I'd love to read through it if I could. This is a great 7", I'm looking forward to hearing more from this band. Recommended.
