Here's some heavy, groove-laden metalcore from Brazil with gruff vocal shouts and gang backups, and lots of chunky rhythms. The vocals actually remind me of a mix between Max Cavalera from Sepultura and James Ismean from Fury of Five, and I dig the lead vocals a lot. Musically there are just tons of midpaced breakdowns... totally massive, plodding chord progressions. Some slightly more experimental guitar textures are used on rare occasions while the bass and drums take control as well. I honestly can't get into some of the groovier riffing, but when they play a little bit faster and keep things straightforward I like what I'm hearing. And the songs are so short that they tend to be able to get by even when they do venture into bland territory. The recording isn't bad. The guitar tone has a little bit of an overproduced edge to the distortion because they tune down pretty low, but the bass tone is nice and dense, the drums sound pretty good, etc. I might mix things a little tighter, because there are some gaps, but for the most part they do have a good sound. So there are no real complaints from me. For a self-released effort this sounds quite professional. The CD comes in a full color slipcase with a vibrantly colored collage of imagery on the cover, likely making a political statement as the photos fused together depict handcuffs, money, explosions, rifles, etc. Most of the lyrics are in English, with one song in Portuguese, and the content revolves around the injustices of the world. The band's English can be sort of rough, but the message definitely gets across. "So what are we doing to be better? We're just accepting all this bullshit and letting our land and culture be dominated by another country. We have to break all the bullshit. We have the power of our union and hate..." This is pretty good. It's not blowing me away, but I like the faster tempos and Portuguese vocal flow of "Sanguenozoio", while the darker "Visions of the End II" is also a very strong piece. There's definitely promise here.
