Here's well over an hour of flowing ambient soundscapes from Finland, consisting of one general heading ("Sealed in a Radiant Larval Maelstrom") divided into six "states" (IX - XIV). The first two tracks alone are over 20 minutes each! The bulk of the compositions are fairly minimal, using a few differing layers of hums and drones with ample low-end and a suffocating sort of density, at times gradually building into louder and more involved layers with barely audible voices breaking in under heavy effects, or some panning textures brushing back and forth in the foreground. State X seems to have some sort of wind instruments involved that have a really unusual tribal essence happening, and I like that a lot because it creates a different sort of spatial identity for the piece. XII uses some percussive rhythms and metallic sounds to add a much different style to its pacing, while XIII even gets slight more aggressive towards the end with some distortion and hard vibrato. It's fairly safe to say that the six tracks do indeed flow together and maintain enough consistency to be viewed as parts of a larger whole, with just enough nuances to generally create their own identities and remain interesting... even if 70+ minutes is a little on the long side, I must admit. The cleanliness and volume of the sound quality really do add a lot of detail to the work, with a lot of strong stereo effects and carefully placed textures amidst the thicker, more consistent core. The CD-R comes in a unique plastic case (transparent purple) with some black and white artwork on the face, black printing over a thin board insert for the cover, and several postcard styled inserts (also black and white) with nice abstract photographs on them - all using arms and hands and other textures to create obscure images or designs. Another nice one from the Finnish scene certainly worth keeping an eye out for.
