Eight untitled tracks recorded live by this Finnish project in preparation for a performance in Turku, Finland in late-2003. Aside from the fact that the tracks are generally quite a bit shorter than normal (some as little as two minutes), the bulk of the material is the same flowing, ethereal dark ambient material reflected by other I.corax recordings. There's a little bit more movement in the foreground with a lot of fluttering tones, but cascading low-end drones still make up the basis around which everything is built. I'm not really sure why the songs are divided up into shorter tracks since they all flow together and there are only minimal distinctions between the general approach taken in any given passage, but whatever. Truth be told this isn't quite as strong as the other material I've heard from the project. The atmosphere is definitely broken up a bit by all of the vibrating textures that seep to the surface, so even though it's nice that this isn't a carbon copy of their other work, it doesn't come off as powerfully - despite some exceptional moments. The middle portion of the disc is a lot more minimal and really has that hypnotic quality that I enjoy about this style of experimentation. Apparently horns made from animal bones were among the sound sources used here, which is a pretty interesting concept, even if I'm not sure I can spot their use. The CD-R comes in a jewel case with black and white artwork used for the cover, depicting one small live photo and some excellent uses of icons and abstract photographs. The traycard has some text printed on purple paper with a triangle cut out of the center and a transparency design laid over top of it, creating some layering effects. Not bad, but I would recommend some of the other I.corax releases over this one.
