Self-proclaimed "really fast, bass-less, downtuned grindcore from S?o Paulo, Brazil", this band rips through 10 tracks of relatively straightforward grindcore with a slight hint of death metal in about eight minutes. I didn't really notice the fact that they tuned down that far, but I suppose they do now that I think about it, and it works, because I don't particularly miss the absence of bass either. Only two tracks break the minute mark, and the songs tend to be fast blasts with lots of layered vocals that range from low growls to distorted high screams. The best parts are definitely the slow areas though, because when they break it down they really start to crush. I only have two complaints here: 1. The songs basically all sound the same, and 2. The recording needs some work. As far as the songwriting goes, there's just not that much that really separates one song from another. You can listen to the disc three, four, five times in a row... and it's all sort of a blur, you don't really know when the disc ends and starts over again. As far as the recording, it's just a little bit muffled. The vocals are forceful and the tones are heading in the right direction, but it's not all that clear, and they need that extra clarity to add some breathing room. The CD-R comes in a slipcase that's largely black with a little bit of light brown and a few abstract facial images that appear to be manipulated illustrations. A small black and white insert includes the brief lyrics (all in Portuguese) and is a bit more pixilated and hard to read - in effect not looking as nice as the outer package. My Portuguese is pretty shitty, so I can't really guess what the lyrics might be dealing with because there's nothing else here that suggests what direction the band might be heading in as far as ideas are concerned. This isn't a bad start at all, least of all for a demo. I'd just like to see them work a bit more variety into the songwriting to make things stand on their own a little more. The fact that the entire demo is less than 10 minutes does work in their favor, but I'm still thirsting for something more...
