Pissed off hardcore with really unique vocals that are basically higher-pitched shouts, but they've got a really interesting ring to 'em that sounds a lot different from the norm. The songs are driven by heavy chord progressions built around a moderately paced old school vibe, occasionally dropping a rocked out sort of lead or a chunkier breakdown. There's no metal though, and it's all pretty straightforward. It's not the most interesting thing I've ever heard, and the songs aren't that memorable, but the slightly heavier bent and octave chords in "30 Second Conspiracy Theory" definitely jump out a bit (slick breakdown, too). The recording definitely sounds like a demo, and it's a little muddy, but it gets the job done. The bass is really pulsing, the drums sound fine, the guitars are solid, etc. This copy of the disc is defective I think because there are a lot of weird flitty sounds cutting all over the place ever 10 seconds or so, and I can't imagine that's part of the actual recording, because it's highly irritating. The CD-R comes in a xeroxed sleeve with the lyrics and all that. Simple and effective. The lyrics are blunt and deal with life in general as well as a few scene topics as far as sincerity and such. All you need to know is that the first two songs both start with a form of the word "motherfucker", and since this isn't some toughguy band by any stretch I think that says something! "Yeah, it's so unfair. And I'm sure we all care, but this is it, so shut the fuck up. Nothing left to lose, nothing left to gain, gun in my mouth, this is how I live." Not bad. Nothing's beating me over the head, but I really like the vocals, and I have no real qualms with the songs themselves. It needs a little something more, but this is a good demo.
