This is a one-man project from Norway offering up one monumentally huge track that runs well over an hour. The bulk of the track consists of droning ambient hums and drones that seem to come from heavily treated stringed instruments. You can barely tell that stringed instruments are involved, but there are moments where you can sort of discern what's going on. There's a lot of thick, massive bass in there, and even though the track is totally repetitive, it's one of those pieces where the consistency really works because of its hypnotic qualities. There is some audible distortion going on deep in the distance, but low-end throbs take precedence over everything else. That's pretty much the story for the entire composition. I'm not clear why it's released on a Dragon Flight sublabel called DFRoom since this is not at all what I would consider doom, but whatever. It's just bleak, oppressive experimental ambient material if you ask me. The layout is, for some reason, absolutely stupid. The cover wouldn't be so bad were it not for the inexplicable basket weaving pattern that overlaps the somewhat goofy outer space image, but the typefaces are all completely horrid and bland, the inner spread is sort of messy and blurry, and the whole thing looks slapped together and very juvenile as far as design aesthetics go. I'm also not into the cheesy phrases inside the booklet like, "I talk to the stars... but they do not listen." But really, the chief problem is that the overall presentation is totally unprofessional. It's all professionally printed and pressed, but something about it looks off, like it was printed from a second-rate printer or something. The last few Dragon Flight releases I've seen looked far superior to this, so I'm a but confused as to what happened. But anyway, this is limited to 500 copies, so... if you want to check it out, do so. I like it, but I don't think it needs to be 70 minutes, and I'm very turned away by the immature presentation. Promising work, though. The last 10 minutes of the track are very nice.
