Ouch. I'm going to try to be polite here, because these seem like sincere guys, they do have some talent, and I think their hearts are in the right place, but... ummm... this is one CD that probably never should've made its way to me. This is basically heavy alternative rock that has a major grunge tinge to it and, at times, and I fucking hate to say this... but... at times it does sort of remind me of Creed or something like that. Now, I hate Creed more than damn near any other band to have ever breathed, and I would take this three-song EP over Creed any day of the week... but... that is the sort of vibe I get from this stuff. It's midpaced rock with an even blend of clean guitars and moderately paced heavy chords with melodic grunge sort of singing. The guy can sing pretty damn well, and the songwriting is average I guess. But the atmosphere of this music is borderline painful for me. It's just too damn slow and sappy... I think this guy would be a much better singer with something a little faster and more energetic, because this stuff... it's just... blah, you know? It's like... three modern power ballads or something, but without the power... and running times that drag on way too long (five to six minutes each). It's well played and fairly well recorded, but all three songs sound almost identical, sans the slow bluesy runs in "Born to Heaven Born to Hell" (that, truth be told, remind me of Faster Pussycat meets Alice in Chains or something, heh). The layout is absolutely terrible too, there's no other word for it. At the very least it's not pixilated, it does look like it was technically handled properly, but from a design standpoint it looks like crap. The photos are way too dull and look like snapshots, the typefaces are among the worst I've seen, etc. The lyrics are personal and boring, very repetitive verse/chorus type stuff, simple and uninteresting as far as content. Sorry guys. Not my thing at all. I don't know what the motivation is here but it comes off as writing for a little bit of cheese factor rather than really putting your heart 100% into it.
