This is a solo recording from Harm Stryker's Kelly Nourse, taken from a live performance delivered through a cheap FM transmitter so that the audience could only experience the piece through personal headsets and such.? The song, titled "A Most Beautiful Place", runs just about 22 minutes of minimal experimental noise that's a little rawer and more persistent than Harm Stryker's usual fare.? The opening run begins with some slowed down samples that sound like a hip-hop vocal track or something.? Shuffling textures then start to creep into the foreground for a few minutes before a mildly distorted surge begins to overtake the foreground.? Around five minutes in there are some distant samples that are harder to decipher, and this abstract approach is more interesting than the hip-hop type of stuff that started the piece.? The distorted churn that makes up the core of this area continues along a repetitious path that slowly changes in tone very subtly over the next several minutes, to the point where you barely even notice that changes are taking place.? It's not until much later, near the 17-minute mark, that some strange melodic textures start to seep in quite sparsely - adding a nice little hint of atmosphere without taking things too far or sticking around for too long.? On occasion it sounds like there's more detail going on underneath the surface, but it's hard to be sure, it could all be some sort of audio illusion.? The CD-R comes secured inside of a nice little handmade matte brown sleeve with a metal pin.? There's some sort of two-color print on the front and a bit of text information stamped onto the back, so it's simple yet quite nice in appearance.? Not bad overall.? The sound quality could stand to be a little louder or clearer, but that's nothing that really detracts from making it an effective listen, especially considering that it's a live performance piece.? Only 21 copies exist, so... don't sleep on it if you're interested.
