Why this was sent to me I do not know, because anyone that is even mildly familiar with my reviewing style should know better. This demo consists of three tracks of absolutely terrible brutal death metal that somehow manage to drag on for fucking 18 minutes. What's it sound like? Programmed drums, typical death metal riffs and low vocal growls, songwriting that has no real sense of direction and just kind of wanders back and forth from riff to riff seemingly endlessly, of course every song begins with a sample, etc. More specifically? The drum machine is quite thin and distant, the guitars are distant and sound like they were recorded directly into a 4-track or something (the distortion is crispy and ineffective), I'm not making out any basslines (if there are any), and the vocals tend to be at the forefront, though also muddy, at times jumping way the hell out in front with some higher snarls that sound borderline ridiculous. Oh, and did I mention that the output volume is incredibly quiet? Amidst the eternally boring songs (two of which far exceed six minutes) are some competent riffs, and the growling vocals would be fine working with better material, but this is a fucking terrible demo. I'm sorry, I'm not gonna lie. Most of the tremolo picking riffs are bland, much of the slower playing sort of loses its force since the writing lacks fluid transitions and seems aimless, etc. I mean, fuck, who the hell writes a nine-minute brutal death metal track that just kind of churns around and goes nowhere between fast tremolo picking and halfassed midpaced breaks? Vital Remains these guys are not, so they ain't pullin' that shit off at all. The CD-R comes with xeroxed packaging and basically looks like shit. Sure, the band has a pretty decent looking hard to read death metal logo with upsidedown crosses galore, but the text for the lyrics is fucking tiny and a total pain to read (it's all storytelling gore stuff anyway), and the zombie looking skull on the cover is just goofy. It's all really plain, and even for a D.I.Y. affair just isn't up to speed. I'll pass. I ought to give this a 0/10 and ignore the fact that there are maybe five good riffs on the damn thing. I should've known from the appearance and song titles like "Hillbilly Raiding Party" and "Motorhome Massacre" that this one didn't have a chance in hell of being any good. Hey, I gave it a shot.
