This is a collaborative effort between The Haters' G.X. Jupiter Larsen and one-man punk band lunatic Mr. California making some wild and crazy harsh noise with some wacky musical elements thrown in underneath all of the distortion. It's pretty over the top material. Now and then a sample will come into play, though it can be hard to make them out, but for the most part everything feels sort of lighthearted in some way, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was all improvised just for fun. There are no "tracks" per se, as nothing is titled. So you just get about 10 minutes of distortion, blips, whirrs, rumbles, etc. on side A, and about the same on side B. Yeah, moments are calmer than others, and certain snippets have a more serious sound to 'em, but for the most part it's a chaotic mishmash of various noises that never truly lets up. The recording quality isn't bad. It's pretty rugged and in some respects has a lo-fi vibe, what with some crunchy high-end tones sort of taking precedence, but for the most part it sounds good for what it is. A little more clarity might let some subtle nuances show through, but I don't get the impression that this release was taken all that seriously. I could be wrong, but the whole aesthetic of it seems kind of hokey and fun, so I figure that's what they were shooting for. The LP comes in a black sleeve that has a xeroxed drawing pasted on the cover and a copy of a well known Albrecht D?rer print pasted on the back. Inside is a crude xeroxed insert that has contact information and such on it - all jotted down in quick handwriting. But it actually looks suitable for what's going on musically, and I think they pull it off. It's a little goofy, but they make it work one way or another. So while I wouldn't call this an essential release, I certainly can't condemn it either. I've heard worse, and I must give them credit for, whether they intended to or not, succeeding in coming up with one of the only experimental noise releases I've ever heard that seems to employ a sense of humor without revolting me in the process.
