Future Faces, “Embraces,” from Revolt (Throatruiner/GPS Prod, 2017)

Not the type of thing I'd typically expect from Throatruiner Records, this gloomy, monotone track from Swiss post-punk trio Future Faces pleasantly surprised me right away with its plunky, goth-tinged bass runs; tactful electronic flourishes; and some guitar work that's even bringing to mind early U2. A familiar sound delivered through a more artfully-crafted approach that bears a smidge more creativity than many comparable acts exploring such areas these days.

"Embraces" will appear on the band's forthcoming four-song debut EP, Revolt, due for release on 12" vinyl in May through both Throatruiner Records and GPS Prod. I'll look forward to hearing the remainder of what the release has to offer...
