Here's some over the top, brutal gore grind with tons of blasting speeds and quick vocal shifts from raging high screams to all sorts of nasty low growls. Make no mistake though, as there are some fucking pummeling slow rhythms at work as well. Side A consists of exclusive tracks recorded in May of 2003, while side B is unreleased demo material from tracks that were released on "Dyspartum". I actually like the newer material better because there's more energy and slight variety to the riffing, and the vocal performance is more unhinged and over the top, rather than relying on so many shrieking high screams. Most of the riffs are really strong, and the playing is tight as fuck, but I wish the recording was a bit more suited for what they have to offer. The vocals are way too loud and totally dominate the mix and obscure the instruments, which are already harmed by tons of low-end that makes things a little muddy. The drums are fairly rigid, but I could handle it if the mix was more geared towards favoring the massive, chunky guitar tone. Considering that this was all recorded in their practice space with a 4-track, a mixer, and three cheap mics, it's not all that bad, but... were it better the songs would stand out more. The layout is alright. The inner spread isn't that hot, and I wish they had included lyrics (not that tracks like "I Knew it Had Something to Do With Interest in Vaginas" would be particularly interesting, though they could be amusing), but I like the paintings used on the sleeve a lot, especially the back half. Not bad at all. I'd be curious to know whether or not all of the band's material is this raw, but I can still appreciate this more than one might expect. Not bad.
