I'll be honest, the unfortunate looking band name and incredibly uncreative album title had me worried, and sure enough this isn't for me. I guess you'd call it some sort of new wave industrial rock record or something... it's definitely not very heavy or aggressive, nor is it quite poppy enough to be overly palatable, but... it strikes me as cheesy. The singing, while monotone, is decent, the uses of electronics are okay, and overall the writing is listenable, but I'm not really into this stuff. It would need a little more force and catchiness to really work for me, though I can see why people would like this because there is a certain level of quality to the sound and the recording. Visually I can tell effort was made too, as the quality is of a professional level as far as printing and whatnot, but the actual design is still poor in my eyes. The colors, the text... it's all just a bit too plain and uninteresting to me. But at least it gets the job done. The lyrics seem to revolve almost entirely around love gone sour and all of that kind of stuff. A few songs seem to deal more with personal reflection or attacks on the stale state of the music industry or whatever, but I'm just not into the content. Production-wise the guitar tone is too flat and lifeless, but the programming and synths sound great. The vocals need more brightness and the singing needs to be a little more active, but other than that I'm okay with how it comes across from a technical standpoint. There are some catchy choruses here and there, and the slower melodic riffing at the start of "If" is actually pretty damn cool (even though the more mellow and "emotional" material is kind of painful), but there's just no song that I dig from start to finish. I can sit and listen to this, but it gets old. And that's another problem I have with this: It's too damn long. 50+ minutes is overkill, especially when the songs are running a senseless five to six minutes each on average, which just drags on when the frameworks tend to be more of a verse/chorus sort of thing. Trim the fat and you'd probably be doing a huge favor to the end result. I don't know, as I said there is a certain level of effort here, and I can see why people who are more into these styles would like this, but... for me to truly enjoy this it would need to come across as a little more mature and focused.
