This is one of the shortest demos I've ever heard at a whopping 6:34 in total running time. Three tracks of some of the rawest black metal possible, complete with unnaturally thin and sharp guitar distortion that sounds like it was recorded direct at an extreme volume. The riffing really isn't that bad, nor is the rawness, but I don't like the drum machine that much, especially when the bass drums get faster and start flooding the mix with low tones that distort the fuck out of everything. They throw in some weird lead breaks or ambient textures almost out of nowhere, which baffles me... but it almost works. Almost. The vocals are raspy screams but you can barely hear them amidst the thudding drums and extreme volume of the rugged guitars. I can't get over how fucking loud this thing is. I don't know what's going on here. I could see these guys actually making some good, primal black metal if they had some direction. But I can't take this seriously. It seems like a joke. Hell, maybe it is a joke, I don't know. There's just too much chaotic nonsense going on, which is a waste of some damn good riffs. Aside from the fact that the printing was done from a home computer so that the largely black layout isn't that dark or richly colored at all, the layout didn't look so bad to me at first. The abstract images aren't bad, the simple text works... and then you open up the case. It would've been alright if they had left out the stupid "stick figure" type illustrations of the two band members, which looks horrible. I also hate it when demo CD-R's are on name brand discs and have the band name and shit sloppily handwritten on the face of the disc. Unprofessional. The liner notes are also sort of lame, admitting that the production quality is flawed and will be improved upon, etc. If you know you're going to improve, why release a demo that represents a lesser form of what you want your band to be? They're giving the demo away for free, I'll give them credit for that. Like I said though, I just can't take this seriously. They need to work on a few things before they release another demo, that's for sure. There's absolutely some surprising potential here considering the unprofessional nature of everything, they're just sort of flaunting that potential every 30 seconds or so and then throwing it all away in a mess of discord and distortion.
