I'm not sure if this New Jersey Brotherhood compilation actually hit Bandcamp last month or not, but I just saw my first mention of it over the weekend and flipped out as soon as I noticed Crime Square on the tracklist, 'cause that's a new project featuring Puda and Zack from Bulldoze/Train of Thought/Agents of Man. I think Dimi Douvas (Stillsuit, Skarhead, etc.) is on drums, but I'm not sure who (if anyone) else is involved. As has been made abundantly clear over the past 25+ years, though: if a member of Train of Thought is involved, I'm interested.
"Don't Be Mad" is certainly shorter than I was anticipating, but stylistically you definitely hear the DNA I'd be looking for in terms of dense rhythmic grooves and strong vocal variety across both shouting and singing. As the running time might imply, portions lean on a faster-paced and more traditional hardcore undercurrent, too. As usual, I'm eager to hear more...
I honestly haven't even listened to the entire comp yet, but am looking forward to checking out the other bands. Crime Square was priority #1, obviously!
