This is fast hardcore/punk with crossover and grind influences from Brazil. It's a pretty interesting blend of influences. There's nothing that I would label as old school hardcore (except for a few breaks during "Matar ou Morrer"), it's just fast, aggressive chord progressions with the occasional heavier break, vocals that range from blistering midrange screams to growls, and so on. They never really let up on the speed, they just crash right through track after track. I think the band is really good at blending in the grind influences without becoming too stale or boring, and "Polui??o" even breaks off a few quick little Black Flag riffs! A couple of the songs on side B like "Escolha Seu Pr?pino Caminho", for example, have more of a discernible punk rock influence underlying the more aggressive side, which is great. The recording is a little rough for my ears, but I can live with it. I just think a slightly cleaner sound and a more balanced mix would really add to their attack. More bass, less vocals, more roundness to the tones, etc. The record comes in a black and white sleeve with a black and white insert. Everything is pretty straightforward and consists mostly of text. It could look a lot better, of course, but it does its job. The lyrics are all serious and deal with socio-political topics such as sexism, education, greed, and that sort of thing. The text also appears in Portuguese with English translations, which is awesome. I really like a few of these songs a lot, but though none of it is bad, I think the band needs to try to work for a slightly more full and equal sound the next time out, as that could add more power to the guitars and give the songs added detail that could heighten the impact. Good work, though. And I have to admit that I get a kick out of that band name!
