Discordant hardcore/punk with a multi vocal attack of screaming/shouting and plenty of tempo shifts from driving speeds to moderately paced rhythms. At times things get a little softer and more spacious, but it's nothing I'd call melodic per se. It's pretty dark, but not so bleak that it outright hits me, you know? "Ants in a Mound" has a few more math rock-ish moments and overall feels more creative and energetic. The recording is good, but as a trio they might want to beef some of the tones. The drums are decent and the bass levels are good, but the bass should be more rounded out and I think the guitars need to be much heavier. Leave the vocals alone, though. The EP comes in a minimal sleeve with art that applies to the bitter scenes of the socio-political lyrics, and there's a nice little collaged piece inside. "We created a universe with ourselves at the center when in truth we are no more than this... ants in a mound, Watch us as we crawl around in an elaborate maze for the rains to wash away, Rain... rain... rain..." Not bad. There's some manner of true strength here, but it's not quite there yet. The music should really hit a more menacing level of heaviness to match the lyrical content and attitude of this material.
