Brutal death metal from France. I'm not that into it. It's generic brutal death metal with lots of churning riffs, growling vocals, and a good amount of pinch harmonics. They do have a few things going for 'em, though. I actually really like the vocal style. The growls have a good texture to them and don't sound derivative. And the slower rhythms tend to be really fucking good as well, they've got some really powerful breaks. But the faster tremolo picking riffs and the pinch harmonics are bland, and the writing as a whole is pretty boring in my opinion. They mix up the tempos well, even bringing in some black metal-esque influences in tracks like "Messiah" (including some higher vocal snarls), but I'm still not grabbed by much of anything. "Human Die" is one of the better songs, cramming most of their influences into a shorter track that also introduces some glimmers of melody that definitely add to the mix. The recording is alright. The guitar and bass tones are great and lock together seamlessly to form a really pounding core, but the vocals are sort of separated from the music, and the drums are really rigid, also cutting away from the core of guitars and bass. If I was really into the songs I could deal with the sound no problem, but since it's kind of a boring disc, the recording doesn't help matters. I wouldn't mess with the guitars or the bass too much, though. The layout pretty much sucks. The cover art is a lame airbrushed looking attempt at a Giger sort of ripoff, complete with alien-esque textured zombie women performing sexual acts on other alien-esque textured zombie women and alien-esque looking penises. Strike one. I can barely even read the tracklist or the lyrics, and the text is all pretty blocky and sort of inconsistent. Strike two. And in addition to an unnecessary and bland collage of band photos in the center spread, the band logo appears again under the CD tray above more artwork of an alien-esque textured zombie woman going to town on an alien-esque textured vagina, surrounded by other alien-esque textured orifices of some kind. No thank you. Strike three. You're out. I've heard worse, but this is nothing new, and it's really not that memorable even for being typical. My biggest problem with the release is obviously the immaturity of the artwork and such, but... whatever.
