Here's a remixed and remastered reissue of this older disc from Born From Pain (Holland), and it sounds pretty good. I can't really tell what the remixing/remastering has done per se, but the guitars do sound a bit more prominent than before. Everything is thick and nicely textured, and I don't have any real complaints at all. It could be better, but for what it is, and the fact that it's a few years old, it's fine. Musically it's brutal metalcore in the vein of Hatebreed (vocally) meets All Out War and Merauder (musically). You won't find any of that melodic Swedish death metal shit here... this is all about thick chord progressions, massive breakdowns, basic metal riffs, the occasional melodic solo, burly vocal shouts, and all of the other elements that originally made metalcore so fucking great. That pretty much covers it. There's not a great deal of diversity (except for all of the awesome guest vocal appearances in "When We Were Kings"). All of the songs run between two and four minutes and they just tear on through just over 30 minutes of raging material. That's that. The layout looks similar to the original release, but tinted blue instead of red. The lyrics are straightforward for the most part and seem to follow an apocalyptic thread: "Darkside of innocence dragging me down, Thrown into this pit, I never reached the ground, Veiled ghosts of tomorrow, echoes of the past, Coming back to haunt me, this feeling ever lasts, No sense of relief, I'm bound to burn, Respect is taken, finding no solace in your words..." If you're into vicious metalcore the way it used to be, you can't lose with this one. Europe is totally putting what's currently going on in the US to utter shame. Good work.
