Argh, what the fuck is with all of these fucking awful self-released efforts lately? I try as hard as I can to be as constructive as possible, and I mean no personal offense to the band members when I trash their work, but Christ... you can polish a turd, but it's still a piece of shit, you know what I mean? These guys look like they're probably around my age, yet this CD is packaged with artwork that looks like it was created by a five-year old who likes demons and violence. There are five band members, but all I can hear are guitars, vocals, and what sure as hell sound like programmed drums to me. If they're live drums, I have absolutely no explanation for how they ended up sounding so completely thin and powerless. Everything else is a muddy mess that sounds like a bizarre mesh of pseudo industrial guitar tones with burly mosh grooves and vocals that shift frequently from yelling to singing, mixed way back in with the throbbing muddiness of the guitars. All of the songs are way too long and repetitive, and everything about this release reeks of immaturity. From song titles like "Shitlist" to lyrics like, "Hell on earth welcome to it, Your god's a fraud and I can prove it, Just nail me to a fucking cross and watch me demonstrate death without any bloodloss..." Combine that with a poor sound, weak songs, and an atrocious visual presentation, and you've got yourself a recipe for disaster. The only good thing I can say about this is that the vocalist does have some talent. I don't mind the sound of his voice and some of his arrangements are actually pretty memorable, and they do have some good, simple chord progressions going on at times. But that's it. Other than that? I just hope these dudes didn't spend a lot of money putting this thing out. Fix the recording, shorten the songs, and get a live drummer if you don't already have one. Then start from scratch and push your framework into a more effective zone of delivery.
