Here's some poppy, rocked out punk from this all-female Japanese trio. Expect really basic drumbeats and chord progressions with dry singing vocals that are occasionally harmonized. It's alright, but the drumming's definitely pretty flimsy/bland and the recording's not working out. The guitar tone really stinks, it's got this weird distance and a midrange sheen to it, and somehow the bass isn't all that audible either. Drums and vocals dominate the mix, and the vocals are a little too plainly documented to work very well either. Performance-wise there are some flaws as well, what with the drummer faltering on timing sometimes, and the more note-based guitar parts getting a little rough. Most of the writing is pretty similar, with basic chord progressions that aren't heavy but aren't upbeat, melodic lead lines, etc. "Buny Girl" and "Best Friends" are much catchier songs, which would make for a good 7", but often the tracks are pretty boring and don't jump out much. At times the vocals lend a slightly darker tone to the music leaning towards yelling or deeper singing (it's hard to explain), but that's not enough to make much of an overall change in delivery. The layout uses a lot of stark sort of cartoon styled illustration work, and it looks fairly good. The booklet folds out in the shape of a plus sign, and contains handwritten lyrics in English. A separate four-panel folded insert contains the lyrics and text information in Japanese. The lyrics are kind of hard to make total sense of, but seem to take an almost lighthearted approach to singing about being yourself and choosing your own path in life, and that sort of thing. Ehhh, they're okay as writers, but they need to step it up. The singing needs to either become stronger or simply go with yelling (they're currently better at the latter), and the music needs to be tightened up as well as infused with a bit more energy (if not variety). There are a few good songs but as a whole it's a boring record that also suffers from an ineffective level of production.
