Naked Beggars "s/t" CD
[SMA]

I don't wanna play the asshole here, but some things shouldn't find their way to me for review. I mean, use your judgment people. Now, this isn't terrible... it's competent on some level, but it's still just... sort of goofy. It's basically bluesy melodic rock with a major pop/radio thing happening, and the songs are okay. I can listen to it without wanting to scrape my face across pavement, and the girl that sings is pretty damn good, but... this sounds like a fake band. They look like a fake band as well. Like a band you'd see playing at a bar in a movie set in 1989 that was made in 1998 or something. Get it? As poppy as it is, it would never get popular, because it seems unreal. I don't know, it's just cheesy. It's got a decent recording (a little thin and lacking punch), but the songs just don't feel right. And horrible layout. Really bad. The cover has weird Photoshopped silhouettes of nude women, and the rest of the booklet is mainly text, sans one collage of band photos and the band photo on the back cover. The photos are generally posed and aren't that great, the lyrics are boring and typical rock lyrics, and the fucked up thing is that there's some sort of contest entry form in the booklet claiming that someone will win $50,000 if the band sells 500,000 copies of this disc. Good fucking luck! Jesus, this thing looks like ass, the band is an unknown, and you think you're gonna go gold? This has gotta be a joke, right? Fuck it, I gave it a shot, but I'm just not gonna spend an hour giving this a more complete review. Next. (2/10)
