I'm a little unclear, but from what I can gauge this is the first issue of a zine that used to be free, but is no longer free.  Which means it's not the first issue of the zine, but perhaps the first issue post-revamping the look or format or something?  I don't know, because this thing just showed up in the mail totally unannounced with no information.  I'm also not entirely clear on what the zine's all about, aside from having a sarcastic attitude, liking real hardcore, not being politically correct nerds, etc.  It's not set up like a typical zine per se, there is a quick two-page interview with Madball, but other than that there are no band interviews and no reviews.  There are a couple of quick blurbs/"columns" by Luke FSU from The Killer, Clint from Organized Crime Records, and the guys who put this zine together (among a few others dealing with trends in hardcore, making fun of stupidly long band names, etc.); plus some humorous little pieces such as "Top 10 (+1 More) Overdone Live Moves", "Come on Guy, Don't be a Homo", "Dude, Brah, How Do I Look?", etc.  As you can probably judge by the titles, those pieces are probably gonna irritate the artsy types who are more into paying $50 to get a haircut that makes it look like they just rolled out of bed and wearing skin tight Cinderella t-shirts that they just bought off of eBay, granted I doubt those kinds of kids will end up coming across this zine anyway.  Elsewhere there's the obligatory list of the top five New York hardcore albums of all time as chosen by everyone from members of Warzone and Killing Time to Charge and Maximum Penalty, and then a couple of pages of classic show flyers at the end.  All in all it's 32 pages in black and white on newsprint with a fair amount of ads throughout, and it looks pretty good visually.  I've seen better, but I've seen a shitload worse, so for the most part this is a quality looking affair.  Really my only gripe is that I read this entire issue from cover to cover in like 45 minutes tops, and I don't really dig random columns and stuff, so aside from the Madball interview and the little spurts of smartass humor, I'm kind of left feeling like, "What did I just read, exactly?"  Know what I mean?  It's not bad, and maybe in the future I'll get more of an idea of where this zine is coming from, but after my first exposure I'm still a little unsure.  I commend their efforts, though.  At least they're doing something, and it's not halfassed either. (6/10)
