Here's a quick ass EP from this band featuring ex-Disembodied members and running through four tracks of caustic metalcore that mixes forceful screaming vocals with thick rhythms that hint at sludginess and flirt with some dissonant and abrasive chords as well. "Cavity" is a little bit faster and more energetic, and some of the chords have little hints of melody involved that stand out to my ears, as does the more rhythmic and succinct "Fold". The four songs are all pretty consistent, there's no great difference between them, but things definitely close strong. The guitar tone is a little overproduced so it has that sort of detuned "thud" and caves in a little bit during the slower riffing without sustaining its gritty and oppressive level of distortion, which I don't like, and the bass sort of peters out in a similar manner, but I love the way most of the vocals sound, and I can live with the drums. It sounds pretty good, but I think they could really crush if they work a little more with that guitar tone. The packaging is pretty minimal, using only black, white, and red with a tracklist and a couple of band photos. No lyrics, so that's pretty much it. This is pretty good. I was never a big Disembodied fan and thus far I haven't been blown away by any of the bands that have formed from their ashes, but this is a competent EP from a group that could do some damage down the line. (6/10)
