Pageninetynine - Document #11

Pageninetynine "Document #11" 7"
[Robotic Empire]

This 7" includes the material from two prior Pageninetynine releases on one 7" on marbled purple vinyl with all new artwork. Side A contains "Document #3" (their tracks from the split 7" with Reactor No. 7) and side B contains "Document #4" (their 6" tour-only release). There are two small inserts on cream paper, one from the band and one from the label. I've reviewed both "Document #3" and "Document #4" prior to this, so here's what I had to say about the music on each release. "Document #3": Pageninetynine has a whopping eight band members, yes, count 'em, eight! This includes three guitarists, two vocalists, bass, drums, and a noise artist. Their side kicks off with a cool noise introduction that leads into some discordant and frenzied metallic hardcore with a lot of melody and some emo tendencies. This is some pretty original stuff, I like it. They could use a little work on their production, though. "Document #4": Here we have more innovative music from the eight-member posse known as Pageninetynine. This shows a nice progression from their split 7" with Reactor No. 7. The production quality is much better, with more clarity and definition. They've also learned to integrate the noise aspects into their songs well, with samples, etc... rather than just using them as introductions. This particular record contains less melody than the other material I've heard from them, but it's performed with greater strength. So there you have it. Two solid releases combined onto one 7" to launch the newly re-named Robotic Empire label. If you missed these EP's the first time around, grab this one while you can. (7/10)
Running time - 9:00 (approximately), Tracks: 4
