The Cherry Point "s/t" 7"

The Cherry Point is Lefthandeddecision. Now, does that mean that Lefthandeddecision has changed names to The Cherry Point? That I'm unsure of, though I think the answer is no. However, you can rest assured that The Cherry Point offers up the same style and quality of vicious harsh noise for which Lefthandeddecision is known. The one track that appears on this one-sided 7", "Superstar '84", is around four minutes of blaring harsh noise, complete with chaotic high-end distorted attacks, biting feedback, slightly rhythmic lower midrange textures, etc. There are some foreboding tones in the background that are a bit smoother and more menacing, and on occasion there's some fucked up vocal manipulation (some of the best I've heard from the man behind the project/projects actually), but for the most part it's a nonstop wall of harsh noise. A harsh noise party, if you will. But the changes that occur throughout, as well as the vocal presence, definitely make this a keeper, as they prevent stagnation. The 7" comes in a simple yet effective xeroxed sleeve that repeats the band name over and over on the cover, with some amusing and fitting artwork on the back (lifted from an old movie poster, no doubt). The record itself is the basics: Black vinyl, plain white labels with handwritten text in pink ink on one side, and that's that. Good stuff. And what lesson have we learned today? Yep... Phil from Troniks/PACrec/The Cherry Point/Lefthandeddecision/and then some is just the fucking man. I do indeed grant this my seal of approval. This fucker is limited to a mere 156 copies, so act fast, if there's still time! (7/10)
