Rammer "s/t" 7"
[Deranged]
Whoa, here's some blistering metal from ex-members of Chokehold, Left for Dead, and Uranus. The two songs herein were on the band's second demo, and their style is somewhat raw, thrashy metal with a little bit of melody, some basic solos, throaty vocal screams (not in an overly aggressive manner), etc. I love the riffs, the writing is pretty unique and the performance is really tight. "Black Between the Stars" is a little bit faster and more energetic, and that's where they really start to pick things up and kick ass. I like both songs, but this track is a fucking shredder all the way. Awesome! They've got a killer sound for demo tracks, I must say. The vocals are definitely mixed too loud, but the drums sound good, the guitars are razor sharp and clear, there's enough bass to hold down the low-end, etc. The 7" comes in a simple red, white, and black sleeve with a cover that certainly seems to be influenced by Japan, and then there are some illustrations of skulls and tanks and pentagrams and all that fun metal stuff. Inside is a black and white insert with more skulls and an alternate band logo along with some recording information. I'd be curious to see the lyrics, as I assume they're taking the metal angle all the way, but who knows? These tracks (along with all of the others from both of their demos) are also available on CD, so I'm gonna have to track that shit down. This EP is limited to 500 copies, so if you're down with vinyl and/or too lazy to pick up the CD, snag this while you still can. (7/10)
Running time - 6:00 (approximately), Tracks: 2
[Notable tracks: both are pretty damn good]
