Priest in Shit "Disabled Senses: In Memory of Luis Jimenez" 2x3" CD

This is a side project of Richard Ramirez that once featured the late Luis Jimenez from Torso Law (to whom this release is obviously dedicated) and this release consists of two discs in two separate sleeves labeled simply "1" and "2" with small round stickers on the front. The two sleeves are housed in a larger air mail envelope that has all of the necessary text regarding the release typed on it with a typewriter. Looks good to me. "Part One" offers up about five minutes of raw, somewhat lo-fi harsh noise that has a good sense of feeling to it, it's what I would consider to be minimal, but there's a lot of movement and interesting texture, as well as a few more sinister/atmospheric textures - even if only for a short time. Towards the end of the track there are some broken up snippets of silence, but for the most part things rarely let up at all. "Part Two" continues in the exact same vein, also running just a touch under five minutes. It sounds like some unbelievably distorted and garbled vocals are involved at one point, but you can barely even tell, much less make out a word of it. The track seems slightly more aggressive in some way, but is very consistent with the delivery started by "Part One". This is a great release. It's not easy to create a sense of emotion with harsh noise but I definitely think this material succeeds. This is one of the few PACrec releases that's not numbered, but it's definitely limited to no more than 55 copies, and I'm damn sure this one's gotta be all gone... (7/10)
