Narbenerde "Seelenkälte" 3" CD
[PACrec]
This one starts out with some ambient rumbles and a voice repeating the word "seelenkälte", and as the sample fades into the distance some piercing feedback tones start to take control, nearly drowning out the ambient hums until an incredible massive bass throb starts pulsating underneath. Four minutes in the sample makes a brief return, but quickly fades back into the various tones that are randomly shapeshifting around. The piece is repetitive, but there's a lot of movement bubbling and shifting about with front to back depth and left to right stereo interaction. The recording is very loud and crisp, definitely sounding digital to me. I love the level of detail, though. Everything is very well placed in the mix with excellent clarity. The packaging is the PACrec standard: A "business card" CD-R in a plastic sleeve. The sticker on the front shows a black and white image of a postcard with a landscape on it, and the back is straight text. This release is limited to a mere 45 copies, hand-numbered, and I'm sure it's sold out now. Not bad at all. (7/10)
