Bloodbox "Sunday Sacrifice" 3" CD
[PACrec]
Holy shit! This is absolutely stunning dark ambient that, while certainly on the more ominous side of things, is far more calm and musical than I had expected it would be - layering synth tones in various forms both musical and textural to create an excellent composition. At times some sweeping percussive sounds creep into the distance, but the repetitious and hypnotic musical aspects drive the track for its duration, undisturbed but enhanced by the shifting tides of the background. Towards the end, prior to the fadeout, it sounds like there are some garbled vocals under there somewhere, similar to the indecipherable sample (Vocals?) that introduces the piece, though it's hard to be sure. The recording is pristine. Loud, clear, vibrant... everything is perfect. It's smooth and dense without lacking any clarity at all. The "business card" disc comes in a plastic sleeve with a tiny sticker on the front showing a massive, massive wall of skulls and other bones, while the sticker on the back is larger and utilizes spaced out text to list the band name, song title, contact information, etc. This gem is limited to the PACrec maximum of a criminally small 55 copies, so if at all possible track one down. Great work. (8/10)
Running time - 5:34, Tracks: 1
[Notable tracks: as usual, there's only one]
