Reign Supreme "American Violence" CD

Yet another killer new release from Malfunction/Deathwish is the "American Violence" EP from Philadelphia's Reign Supreme, which busts out five concisely focused tracks of perfect metallic hardcore in just 12 minutes. I don't entirely know what to say, 'cause this is textbook stuff here, with straightforward song structures; furious vocals; fast-paced power chords with some traditional hardcore influences; powerful, crunchy midpaced breaks; and just the right amount of groove. They're not trying to rewrite the book, and that's fine by me, 'cause every song's a keeper and they god damn sure leave you wanting more. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? In fact, pretty much the only thing that could've made this CD any better would've been if they'd tossed some bonus tracks from the band's prior work on at the end, 'cause I wasn't familiar with these cats beforehand (I'm "out of the loop", what can I say?), and it appears that their prior releases were all on vinyl. Fuck it, though. This is great shit and I can't wait to see a full-length hit the streets. What more can be said?

Doing my own review, but the acoustic song ruined the groove they were in where it was placed and should have been left out all together. Nearly a deal breaker.

I liked this CD a fair amount. has a Hatebreed influence to it which isn't a bad thing. plus, Klint is pretty dreamy.

I am utterly confused. I love that Nirvana song, though. One of their best tunes.

The 11 track version was leaked on the internet a few months before the ep came out. It has unfinished versions of the songs plus other songs they recorded at the same time (possibly for later releases).

An awesome band that is out doing great things right now.
And the mix of Mikey Doto and Dave Heck in a band together is dreamy.

Amazing release, cannot wait for a full length album. Still Unbroken has possibly the best beatdown ever.

That Nirvana cover is pretty cool and if it was on the 7" I would have picked it up. The rest of the songs are pretty cool but don't do much for me. Don't know why.

I got the version with the extra songs, friend of mine made me a copy- shit is SICK and I thought I was pretty over HC. Anyone have the lyrics to "a ghost in this city"?
