The saga continues…

On top of everything else my car broke down on the way home from work Monday night, so it's been an awesome month overall. Still waiting on a replacement part for my laptop, too. Good stuff.

Anyway, at least lately, this has been the song of the year for me, even though it originally came out over 10 years ago. Impeccable on every level. I've even listened to this song on repeat a few times in recent weeks, and I pretty much never do that. Everyone in that damn band should be fuckin' rich for having something to do with a song so amazing. Seriously.

And here's another one that's been totally killing me lately. A few years old, but total fucking gold through and through. Every single time this song comes on I want to smash faces immediately. Pure, in your face hardcore perfection.

Enjoy. It's back to work (hell) for me...

  1. OLW is so good, I got their cd’s a few months back cuz PimAsice was hyping them everywhere. The Innocents disc is practically flawless full of awesome hooks, riffs, vocal lines. Jonah Jenkins…what a voice. A new feature with him can be found here: http://www.asice.net/specials/232/ The other song was cool imo but couldn’t find the genius of it after a few listens. My car broke down yesterday too, shitty costs, hope u get all things runnin’ again.

  2. One other small thing, what are your thoughts on the new ringworm, in a nutshell ;)

  3. New Ringworm, in a nutshell: Disappointment.  A few strong songs, but the guitar tone is kinda weak and the rest of the album is fairly boring.  I was quite surprised, and it is the only Ringworm album I don’t particularly enjoy.

  4. I dug the new Ringworm alright (full review soon) but was most disappointed with the tacked on Scandi melodies here and there.  There should be no room for that kind of crap within the ‘worm.

  10. “downpour” is one beautiful piece of post-hardcore mastery. for some reason, i’ve always thought the band was straight-up (toughguy, even) HC. thanks for the remedy.

  12. To Vince (if you ever check back and read this), you need to start thinking outside the box…

I typed ‘Innocents’ into allmusic.com, quickly found out that the band is Only Living Witness and added them to the monstrous list of albums I need to buy. Clever eh? ;-)

  13. Or you simply download the mp3 above and point your mouse on it/play it. It clearly reads Only Living Witness - Downpour. Voila, mystery solved!

  14. I’ve been meaning to get Solid Ground-Get Used To It since you posted about it a while ago. Thanks for the reminder!

  15. Only Living Witness is probably my favorite band ever. Man. The vocals, the groove, the riffs… I totally agree with you and more ;)

I don’t know who TimLB is but it’s cool to read people picked up on it because I talk about them way too much haha. It’s just that I don’t want anyone to miss out on them. The feeling I had when I first heard Prone Mortal Form…

Check out that interview I did with Jonah Jenkins (already mentioned above) for sure. Amazing dude. He was really cool with me on the interview. http://www.asice.net/specials/232/

Who’s going to re-release those 2 CD’s on vinyl? Anyone?

  16. Hey Andrew, only just saw this post. Had to respond as I completely agree with you on Downpour, it is downright incredible! Innocents was actually the first CD I ever bought (after switching from audio cassette back in ‘96 - embarrasingly late!). Even after 12 years and jundreds of other purchases it remains one of my favourite CDs of all time, with Downpour being one my top tracks from that album. Seriously man, that song still pops into my head a lot even after listening to thousands and thousands of other great songs over the years. Strange, hey? That band were awesome and they have reformed (maybe under a different name) with a new bass player.
